The radio program Beautiful Extremes, online radio by Studio 80, played the track Plop Tech by Garçon Taupe from Narrominded Split LP #4 by Garçon Taupe / Legowelt. Listen to the fragment from the broadcast on November 17 in the player below.
The online dance magazine 365Mag rates Retro Retry 2: Another Another Green World 8.5 out of 10. ‘Whereas lots of compilations tend to result in shallow a dime a dozen releases, this one actually takes the listener down an intriguing trip through the depths of electronica in its best form.’ In their review of Split LP #4 the oldest online source for music reviews Vital Weekly says: ‘Garçon Taupe plays rudimentary electro poptunes, that are actually quite nice. He mixes good ol’ fashioned 80s synthi-pop with 90s techno, but in a very playful manner. Legowelt play altogether a somewhat darker tune. Nice tracks too, but not on par with Garçon Taupe.’
We proudly present the fourth installment in our Split LP Series. After abstract electronics, IDM and avant-jazz on the first three editions, both artists on this LP are deeply rooted in electro music. Legowelt explores it’s darker sides in the four atmospheric tracks comprising his Land Rovers in Astrophics EP. Spacy, rocking, obscure and instantly recognizable as Legowelt. Garçon Taupe throws some acid and disco in the mix on his side. Eighties drum machines and heavy basslines pave the way for some rather cheerful and unpretentious melodies on his Wittenburg EP, mixed to tape at Rude 66′s Triple Six Lounge studio. With smashing contributions by electro lord Legowelt from dirty brown The Hague and bleep wizard Garçon Taupe from the bourgeois slums of Amsterdam, Narrominded will present the fourth installment in it’s renowned Split LP Series this October. The contributions on this new lp have in common that they are both deeply rooted in electro music, with Legowelt exploring it’s darker and repetitive sides, while Garçon Taupe injects some acid and playfulness into the mix. Both sides of this split lp comprise a whole ep in length. Legowelt’s Land Rovers in Astrophysics EP reveals itself in four full blown spacey tracks, leaning on eerie vocals and grungy electrobeats. Garçon Taupe’s Wittenburg EP delivers five more bangers of acidic disco and 80′s infected computer beats.
