Coen Oscar Polack will release his new cd Spectral Churches next month. The cd will feature a live recording of the work he performed during the StreetCanvas festival in Haarlem last year. The piece consists of treated recordings of the bells in the tower of the Grote of St. Bavokerk in Haarlem. Coen Polack will make a speech about this work and other topics related to his music on September 10 in the Janskerk in Haarlem, during an evening curated by StreetCanvas. His talk will start at 22:30. This Saturday he will perform a short laptop and saxophone set at Fatform in Amsterdam Kraaiennest. He will take the stage around 15:00. Others on the bill include Hakki Takki, DJ Lonely and Bertin. We hope to see you there, it will be fun!

Een fenomeen als Deerhoof mag niet ongerecenseerd blijven, ongeacht dat dit (haast schattige) eclectische viertal alweer een halve maand geleden ons land aandeed en webzijde INDIE INDIE liever geen oude koeien uit de sloot vist. Toch heeft Deerhoof in het Patronaat (Haarlem) het weer geflikt om na een degelijk optreden in een te drukke Melkweg – waarbij uw recensent meer aandacht had voor het aanwezige bier en gezelschap – een sterke show weg te geven. Bovendien: buiten de hoofdstad is genoeg moois te zien.

The first edition of StreetCanvas will feature a specially commissioned audiowork by Coen Oscar Polack. The site-specific work Spectral Churches (Unchartered Territory I) will be performed on the evening of October 7 as part of the opening night program of StreetCanvas, a festival in which artists from multiple disciplines will use the city of Haarlem as a ‘canvas’.
