The Door, the debut album by Puin + Hoop on Narrominded is getting some great reviews. Festivalinfo gave the album 3 out of 5 stars (‘an exceptional record’). Moors Magazine strongly recommends the album ( ‘subtle and refined’). Vital Weekly says Door is ‘a major step forward for Puin + Hoop’. Subjectivisten – Het Shaduwkabinet calls the album ‘abstract, but human and sensitive at the same time’. The online radio show Beautiful Extremes played the track Bomendocumentaire twice, once on November 16 and once on November 23.
The latest effort by Gone Bald, Waiting It Out, got a raving review by File Under: ‘What a band. What a record.’ MusicFromNL compares Gone Bald to dEUS and Dark Entries says ‘Gone Bald does nothing new, but what they do, they do with great craftmanship’.
The debut album by Hunter Complex gets positive reviews all around the world. Dutch music magazine Oor: ‘Beautiful, almost dubby synthpopdisco. Who wants to know how the future once sounded, finds comfort with Hunter Complex.’ The Belgian website Kwadratuur: ‘lightly disturbed synthwave songs!’ Dutch website File Under says ‘Hunter Complex sounds both icy cool as melancholically moving.’ Beats & Beyond rates the album 8,5 out of 10 and thinks ‘retrofuturism never sounded so fresh.’ The website Outlands, based in Macedonia, is also enthusiastic: ‘some of the songs are a real uncanny candies.’ Outlands also interviewed Hunter Complex aka Lars Meijer. Dutch music blog File Under has published a review of the three new cds by Coen Oscar Polack. ‘To my ears the contrast between the chaotic situation in India on The Skipping Monk and the oasis of semi-orderly tranquility in the recordings made in the nature reserve in Utrecht, is miraculous.’ Read more here.
