Mister Spoelstra will embark on a tour of International Cities of Big Importance this weekend. On Friday night he will play a gig in The Hague, the International City of Peace and Justice. The next day he will do a show in Erfurt, the birth place of that other musical genius. On Sunday Spoelstra will play in Berlin, the International Capitol of Hipsters and after a day of rest he will arrive in Leipzig, the International Capitol of Gothic Parties. The last day of his tour will see Spoelstra playing Rostock, the main port of call of the MS Stubnitz. That is exactly the place where Spoelstra will play, so this is your chance to see the man on a boat. After that Spoelstra will drive the lonely autobahn back home, to the International City of Cheese with Cumin Seeds.
Here’s a brand new track by Katadreuffe! This will be on their new EP called Period, soon to be released on Narrominded. Catch the boys at their best at two gigs in October. On the 15th they will play at Next To Jaap in Voorhout and on the 29th they will be at Vera in Groningen.
Coen Oscar Polack will release his new cd Spectral Churches next month. The cd will feature a live recording of the work he performed during the StreetCanvas festival in Haarlem last year. The piece consists of treated recordings of the bells in the tower of the Grote of St. Bavokerk in Haarlem. Coen Polack will make a speech about this work and other topics related to his music on September 10 in the Janskerk in Haarlem, during an evening curated by StreetCanvas. His talk will start at 22:30. This Saturday he will perform a short laptop and saxophone set at Fatform in Amsterdam Kraaiennest. He will take the stage around 15:00. Others on the bill include Hakki Takki, DJ Lonely and Bertin. We hope to see you there, it will be fun!
Noisegazers Katadreuffe and mathgoofballs Boutros Bubba have both nearly finished new stuff. Katadreuffe is putting final touches to a 4 song EP that will be called Period. Boutros Bubba is doing the same for their new album Ridiculous Wrists. Period is most likely available in October or November. The release date of the Boutros Bubba album depends on when the cover art is finished. Rumours are that the bands lead singer/guitar player Spoelstra is attempting to paint an album cover on canvas using his erect penis as a brush.
Peal is an instrumental trio from the The Hague area. They have been around for many many years doing shows and releases occassionally. Their music has been described as the perfect soundtrack for a chasing scene. Although this description sells them short, it gives you an idea what this band is about. The relentless riffing, carried out with surgical accuracy makes for a suffocating listening experience. Just like their two predecessors, the new EP Peal III contains only a handful of songs, four in this case. Releasing songs in small batches is a delibarate choice by the band to not exhaust the listener to much. Peal III is the heaviest and most ‘hardrock’ Peal EP to date. It will be released by Narrominded in the fall. A Peal artist page on our site is under construction, in the meanwhile you can visit their Myspace where you can listen to their previous EP Brachland.
In the end of August we’re organizing our third event in De Nieuwe Anita and it’s going to be a classic! We’re very proud of this lineup with our fav gazers Katadreuffe, sounds & poetry from Ketelbinkie, topped off with three of the biggest electronics talents that NL has to offer: Stellar Om Source, Julien Mier and Zaphyd.
Please direct your browsers to the brand new Bandcamp-site for Gone Bald. The band thanks Igor Mihovilovic (aka Karmakumulator) for making this happen.
The Gone Bald put Europe under a spell during their latest tour. They’re back at home now regaining their breath and basking in the glory of great reviews and browsing through great pictures to remember loads of golden moments by. June 22 @ SUB071, Leiden with Joe4 (Croatia) & United Sun of Toil (USA)
An evening with two old school noiserock monsters from Croatia and the USA plus our own Boutros Bubba. Angular grooves, distorted bass, ear piercing dissonant guitars and throats that are being abused, that’s basically what you can expect. This one you don’t want to miss.
